Where Does Shoulder Pain Come From
The key to good shoulder blade motion is a mid-back or thoracic spine that moves well in all three planes of motion. If you observe the typical aging process for all humans, a rounding and stiffening of the thoracic spine is the rule, not the exception. As the thoracic spine becomes less successful in moving in all three planes of motion, the shoulder blade can not contribute as well. Think of the shoulder blade as the foundation of glenohumeral shoulder motion. This will reflect as injuries in the rotator cuff, bursa, and early arthritic changes.
