About Shoulder Pain

The shoulder is the most gifted joint in the body for 3D motion. However, creating such a tremendous moving joint requires sacrificing stability. The key to good shoulder motion is a shoulder blade that is free to move around the rib cage.

Where Does Shoulder Pain Come From

The key to good shoulder blade motion is a mid-back or thoracic spine that moves well in all three planes of motion. If you observe the typical aging process for all humans, a rounding and stiffening of the thoracic spine is the rule, not the exception. As the thoracic spine becomes less successful in moving in all three planes of motion, the shoulder blade can not contribute as well. Think of the shoulder blade as the foundation of glenohumeral shoulder motion. This will reflect as injuries in the rotator cuff, bursa, and early arthritic changes.

How Does Eastside Wellness Chiropractic Treat Shoulder Pain?

Our methods differ from most in providing great glenohumeral motion. At Eastside Wellness Chiropractic, we look at patients from a holistic approach. We know that the thoracic spine’s and shoulder blade’s 3D movement and stability must be improved to be successful. Good hip motion is so important for a shoulder blade to contribute appropriately. We also realize that proper hip motion depends on a foot that is successful in all three planes of motion. So, is it possible that loss of motion in my ankle joint could be the cause of my shoulder pain? We would say to that question - how could it not?
